Chapter on Early Earth Atmosphere

Bruce Fegley and Laura Schaefer have co-written a chapter on the Earth’s earliest atmospheres with Kevin Zahnle of NASA Ames.  The chapter will appear in a book about the origins of life edited by Dave Deamer and Jack Szostak. A preprint of the chapter is available here.

Two papers on chondritic meteorites 2009

Two papers by Laura Schaefer and Prof. Fegley have been accepted for publication. The paper Chemistry of Silicate Atmospheres of Evaporating Super-Earths will appear in the Astrophysical Journal Letters. The paper Volatile Element Chemistry during Metamorphism of Ordinary Chondritic Material and Some of its Implications for the Composition of Asteroids will appear in Icarus. Two abstracts for Meteoritical Society Meeting 2009

Prof. Fegley and Laura Schaefer have submitted two abstracts to the 72nd Meteoritical Society Meeting to be held in Nancy, France on July 13 – 18 of this year. The abstracts are: Silicate Atmosphere and Clouds of Hot Earth-like Exoplanets by Fegley and Schaefer, and Fractional Vaporization of Hot Earth-like Exoplanets by Schaefer and Fegley.
