We have submitted a new paper to the Astrophysical Journal Letters. This paper is entitled ‘Atmospheric Chemistry of Venus-like Exoplanets’ by Laura Schaefer and Bruce Fegley. The paper applies models of atmosphere-lithosphere equilibrium developed for Venus to potential terrestrial-sized exoplanets. The paper makes predictions about the chemical composition of the atmospheres of Venus-like exoplanets, their surface pressures and temperatures, and the mineralogies of their surfaces. A preprint of the paper can be found here.

A new poster, made by Dr. Katharina Lodders, is available here. This poster gives a graphical summary of the research being done in the Planetary Chemistry Laboratory and was prepared for display during the upcoming visit of Professor Gary Wihl the new Dean of Arts and Sciences to the McDonnell Center for the Space Sciences on August 17th.
Dr. Lodders created a movie about the discovery of the elements in the periodic table. It can be viewed at the link.
Professor Fegley and Laura Schaefer submitted an invited chapter titled “Cosmochemistry” to the Proceedings of the Kodai School on Synthesis of Elements in Stars, which Professor Fegley attended in May. A preprint of the chapter is available for download here.
